"sleeping with the tiger"

a little drawing i completed as part of @mcmintea’s Discord art challenge (#minteachallenge) the theme was “My Representative Animal” and i chose a tiger, mostly because I resonate a lot with the duality of this huge but fluffy animal.

as much as it is both a ferocious and powerful beast, it’s also just a big cat who wants some good pets. people’s first impressions of me have been quite contrasted at times: some thought i was warm, others thought i was intimidating. as an ambivert (though mostly introverted if i could choose to be), i also find myself in a lot of in-between situations, where i have to be both loud and quiet, assertive and gentle, etc.

also, orange is my favourite colour. 🐯 (why is this tiger emoji yellow tho)

i had a lot of fun drawing this! used a reference picture and even referred to other depictions and renditions of this animal—it really helped me look and watch how others rendered such a complicated-looking creature into simplified shapes, forms, and lines.
